If a neighbor neglects the necessary work of maintaining her kitchen or yard or home, it’s lazy slothfulness. When we do it, we’re embracing sabbath.

If our gorgeous archenemy buys insanely expensive cosmetics, she’s wasteful and vain. When we do it, we’re making the most with what God’s given us.

If a cousin devours steamy romance novels, she’s committing the sin of lustfulness. When we do it, we’re embracing a diverse range of literature.

If an acquaintance fails to kick her bad habit, we call it an addiction. When it’s us, we call it our one enjoyment.

If someone with less money than us purchases a useless novelty item, we call it an irresponsible extravagance. When we do it, it’s a great find.

If someone with more money than us enjoys an exotic vacation, it’s a selfish indulgence. When we do it, it’s a needed rest.

If a Hindu family constructs a household shrine at the center of their home to a god that promises to satisfy, we call it idolatry. When we do it, we call it an entertainment center.
